American Safari Cruises/InnerSea Discoveries Wins a 2011 Editor’s Pick Award from TravelAge West Mag

Honored in the Category of Expedition Cruising

Seattle, WA, March 29, 2011
– American Safari Cruises/InnerSea Discoveries has been honored with a TravelAge West 2011 Editor’s Pick Award in the category of Best Cruise Line for Expedition Cruising as part of the TravelAge West WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards.

Now in its sixth year, TravelAge West’s WAVE (Western Agents’ Vote of Excellence) Awards gives travel agents in the Western U.S. the opportunity to recognize the outstanding qualities and services of their travel-supplier partners.

“We’re thrilled that American Safari Cruises’ three upscale yachts have been acknowledged for their adventurous activities and itineraries,” said Tim Jacox, executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We specialize in active, small-group yacht adventures—exploring spectacular wilderness areas and close-up encounters with wildlife.”

American Safari Cruises’ three luxury yachts—12 guest Safari Spirit, 22-guest Safari Quest and 36-guest Safari Explorer—sail in Alaska, Mexico’s Sea of Cortés, Columbia and Snake Rivers and new in 2011, the Hawaiian Islands. Guests may be as active as they wish, from kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding and skiff excursions, to hiking, mountain biking, walking, beachcombing or drinking in the scenery from the comfort of the yacht's salon or on-deck hot tub. All from-boat activities and shore excursions are included, as are all fine wines, premium spirits, and microbrews. An approximate two-to-one guest-crew ratio ensures attentive service and a personal yachting experience.

The Editor’s Picks were chosen by Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro and the entire editorial team of TravelAge West. Review methods included product analysis, on-site visits, a survey of a select group of travel agents and online research. To see the full list of Editor’s Picks, go to WAVE Awards. Agents can vote April 1- 30. One Editor’s Pick nominee from each category will win a WAVE award.

“As in past years, the editorial staff undertook hours of research and looked at a wide range of factors in making our picks,” said Shapiro. “The companies acknowledged with our Editor’s Pick designation provide travelers with truly exceptional experiences.”

In addition to this distinction, Editor’s Pick honorees are also in the running for a WAVE Award, to be determined by a TravelAge West readers’ choice poll conducted during the month of April. The voting is open to readers of the publication, as well as to all visitors to the magazine’s website, TravelAgeWest.com.
