Wild islands and waterports off America's northwest coast
An adventure cruise gives Louise Roddon the opportunity to hike, paddle-board and canoe around remote Puget Sound
Louise Roddon, The Times
Just off tiny Skagit Island in a remote corner of Washington state, the water is the sheeny grey of beaten metal. It’s a lovely sight from the comfort of our cruise ship’s sundeck — humpy moss-coloured islands breaking up the silvery horizon — but right now I’m on my knees, about to try stand-up paddle-boarding, the sea’s coldness only a finger-flick away. I feel as adrift as young Pi Patel from The Life of Pi.
