Last year 35 teams started, 15 finished. The Race to Alaska or R2AK is a race of detailed planning, skill, a little luck and a lot of endurance. It’s not a race for the weekend sailor. The R2AK website illustrates this by saying, “It’s like the Iditarod, on a boat, with a chance of drowning.”
