With a name as enticing as Hells Canyon, it’s no wonder that adventurers want to explore North America's deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet!

We departed early in the morning from Lewiston, Oregon on jet boats that zig zagged across the Snake River, the body of water that carved the canyon. With a sense of exploration we began to travel deeper and deeper into Hells Canyon.

Although it was blustery in the morning, the sun slowly began to shine through the clouds and before we knew it, we were seeing the colors of the canyons.

Green vegetation slowly turned into golden and black colors as we arrived deeper into the dry area of the gorge. The splashing of the boat slowly diminished as we stopped to observe a mountain goat family standing on the edge of the cliffs.

It’s amazing to see how these animals can jump from stone to stone with such grace and ease!

Eventually we made it to Garden Creek Ranch, a beautiful plot of land that is found at the crux between the states of Washington, Oregon and Idaho!

When we arrived, the managers of the site had a meal prepared for us. Nothing feeds the soul after a day of boating like homemade BBQ in a beautiful setting surrounded by the amazing company of the UnCruise travelers.

With our bellies full and the satisfaction of seeing so much natural beauty, we made our journey back to Lewiston where the S.S. Legacy was waiting to take us to our next adventure.
