Oysters Can't Get Any Fresher...


On the Wilderness Discoverer’s May 26 cruise, the boat rendezvoused with an oyster farmer to purchase oysters--FRESH from the grower.

A crewmember with the fresh oysters...oh boy!

The farmer came on board the boat and talked to guests about his oyster farming business. He is originally from Minnesota but retired to Alaska. He brought about 300 oysters with him.

The next afternoon, it was in the 60s. The crew fired up the on deck grill. Everyone sat on the back deck in the sun and ate the fresh, grilled oysters right from their shells. YUM! A true taste of Alaska.

Some eat their oysters bare while others dress them up with lemon or hot sauce.
