Ranger Faye Comes to Dinner

08-21-2012

By Julie Cardenes, Expedition Guide, Wilderness Explorer

Upon entering Glacier Bay National Park at Bartlett Cove, Ranger Faye – who would sail with us for the next three days of our journey – boarded the vessel. Along the way, she shared with our guests all of the fascinating natural and geologic history of the Park.

Ranger Faye comes dressed as Eliza Skidmore, one of the first Glacier Bay National Park tourists.

What a wonderful surprise it was when Ranger Faye showed up in period costume one afternoon to delight us with the tale of Eliza Skidmore, who was one of the first tourists to visit Glacier Bay. All on board were taken back in time to the late 1800’s as we were presented with the early photographs and stories of what Glacier Bay was like over 100 years ago.
