It has been several weeks since rain last graced the earth here, and incessant winds have swept through the prairie, inhaling what little moisture there is with every dry, inescapable gust.
It was a perfect day for a hike. The strong dusty winds we had the previous day departed as we rounded that last bend in the Columbia River.
Just as we cleared the water from our faces…. SPLASH! Another wave of water invaded our raft, soaking us head to toe.
The Columbia and Snake River system has been referred to as an outdoor enthusiast’s mecca and we’re ready to explore everything this off-the-beaten-path area has to offer.
With a name as enticing as Hells Canyon, it’s no wonder that adventurers want to explore North America's deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet!
