UnCruise Breaks Guinness World Record

Nathan Krohn, UnCruise Adventures

Well, it finally happened.

UnCruise Adventures has made its way into the Guinness Book of World Records. Yes, we hold a World Record. Something no one else in the world can lay claim on.

You might think we spotted the most whales ever in a 24 hour period or we completed the longest yak and whack in Alaska.

Those all sound like something that would make sense for UnCruise to win a World Record for… but we didn’t. In fact, not even close.

Remember, we’re UnCruise. We do things differently. We’re not your normal cruise line and apparently, we’re not your normal World Record holder either.

We’re proud to announce that UnCruise has been awarded the World Record for the largest pair of googly eyes.

Yep, you read that right.

For a while now, the S.S. Legacy has been known to put small googly eyes everywhere— on docks, trash cans, lock walls. It was kind of their signature move.

SS Legacy with googly eyes

The idea for the googly eyes came from former Captain Lyman Louis, and after discovering the previous record was 24.41 inches, he set out to break it.

Check out the video below highlighting the day the record was set in the Dalles, Oregon.

So it’s official. UnCruise Adventures is a World Record holding cruise line.

Where are the googly eyes now? They rest in the Pacific Fisherman Shipyard in Ballard, Washington next to other signs and relics of historic value.
