As I was gearing up for a season as an expedition guide on the Safari Endeavour, I bought books. Piles of them. I figured I’d read through about two books per week down in crew quarters after the day was over.
I had just finished up with my early afternoon tasks when I got the urge, as I often do, to head out in a kayak to experience Alaska up close and personal.
It was the first night of our Un-Cruise, and two hours north of Ketchikan, we shut down our engines and put the hydrophone in the sea.
Our small yachts and expedition boats are, well, small, and therefore the galley is too. So some guests are curious about the quality of food they'll receive on an Un-Cruise Adventure.
Last week we witnessed humpback whales bubblenet feeding. It was my first time and it was pretty amazing.
